Maria Sison-Roces, Manager of Corporate Sustainability; Los Angeles Department of Water & Power
Maria Sison-Roces serves as Manager of Corporate Sustainability Programs at Los Angeles Department of Water & Power. Sustainability, ordinance compliance, integrated reporting, and cross-disciplinary engagement are the focus of her work experiences in the last five years. Maria manages LADWP’s compliance with the City of LA’s existing building energy and water efficiency ordinance, environmentally preferable purchasing ordinance and recycling ordinance. She is also responsible for LADWP’s voluntary reporting efforts to Carbon Disclosure Project and The Climate Registry. Maria develops and implements green initiatives to elevate employee awareness on sustainability including sustainable supply chain. In 2016, Maria led cross functional efforts to achieve LEED Gold Certification for LADWP’s headquarters in downtown Los Angeles, an effort which has now expanded to other LADWP buildings. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in European languages from the University of the Philippines, a Masters degree in Business Administration from University of La Verne, and a sustainability certificate from the University of California Los Angeles. Maria also serves as co-chair for the Electric Power Research Institute’s Strategic Sustainability Science utility collaborative.
